My pregnancy weight loss journey has been so up and down. After giving birth to my son Ryder I started losing weight quickly. It all happened so fast that I really thought getting back down to my normal weight pre baby would be a breeze… Boy was I wrong!
It didn’t help that all the beautiful pregnant mama’s I knew looked great a week or two after giving birth. Plus, you hear all these positive stories about women bouncing back fast and better than ever after their first child. I thought in my head “this will be easy, it’s my first!” I was mislead to thinking this weight loss game would be a walk in the park post baby. For the women that did bounce back, more power to them, but I wasn’t so lucky. I knew I had to put in the work to get to back to my goal weight.
It was all going so well until it just stopped. The last bit of weight I’m trying to lose is so stubborn and the hardest to get rid of. I decided not to break down and feel like a total failure. That every woman is different and it’s ok to take time to get back to what I use to be. After all, I did just push out a tiny human. I had to learn to love this beautiful, full, curvy body of mine and appreciate how amazing it actually is. What women can do is untouchable and magical. We are truly amazing creatures and I will never ever talk bad or disrespect my body again. It gave me my beautiful, smart, funny son and I am so blessed. I embrace the extra pounds and the stretch marks. I feel more motivated than ever to work out, eat healthy and feel great mind body and soul.
I have always loved a good flowy mini, but one thing that has definitely given me my confidence back is a good ol babydoll mini dress. Mine you see here is from Zara and they have a wide selection of great styles to choose from. The loose fit hides your problem areas, doesn’t constrict you and most of all, you don’t have to feel like a stuffed sausage as you would wearing something tight to your body.
The Babydoll dress has a been a staple throughout time and decades, liberating women for centuries. It can be worn in many styles from couture to grunge. I styled mine with a my Gucci belt to add a waistline, but this dress is also stylish and fitting without. I Added a blazer and high boots to give it that chic edge I love about street style fashion in fall. Fall, blazers and boots go together like peanut butter and jelly. In fact, it really is one of my favorite seasons for this reason. Bring on the layers, blazers and OTK boots… Now if only the weather would jump on board so I can show out and show off.
I tagged some similar and shopable dresses below for inspo!
