If there was one color that gave millennial pink a run for its money in 2018 that color was lavender, lilac or whatever you prefer to call it. Lavender came out to challenge millennial pink for the next IT color and it won. I was more than ready to set my Millennial Pink aside to make room for the new It shade and one of biggest statement trends of the year.
Whether you prefer your lavender, light and airy or deep, with more prominent purple tones, it’s an easy-to-pull-off neutral that still reads edgy, especially when done in fun materials. Plus, it’s a solid compromise for purple enthusiasts, not yet ready to take on ultra-loud ultraviolet. Lavender creates a chic contrast with denim and can easily be worn with a bold lip.
If you haven’t already fell weak to this trend I would consider making lavender your new statement shade. In addition to being all over the Fall 2017, Spring 2018 the Pre-Fall 2018 collections took a similar stance. Offering up lilac knits, tailored sets and breezy midi and maxi dresses (paired with boxy button-up jackets and/or statement footwear. Go bold: wear the pastel-adjacent shade head-to-toe in the form of suiting, prints and evening dresses.
I paired my suiting pant with, surprise surprise polka dots… another familiar and very popular SS18 trend. You can never go wrong with the timeless, vintage and classic print that is the polka dot. My pants are from Zara and I got them on sale for $15.00 dollars, but is no longer available online. This top was also on sale from Forever for $10.99 and is still available online.
