NYFW SS18 Recap Part 2
Hello all my fashion lovers, around the world. I’m back with #NYFW #SS18 RECAP Part 2! Picking up right where I left off with #NYFW Recap Part 1 (I hope you’ve all had a chance to give that a read) Bringing you all my favorite highlights from #NYFW from the runway to the streets and all my favorite eats!! I’ll also be leaving you with some tips on how to stay energized and fresh faced during #NYFW.
With touches of classic and modern, sophistication and youth, Leanne Marshall has captured an effortless grace and timeless elegance in all her collections.
Checks and plaids are among the biggest pattern trends for this falls season and seriously one of my favorite trends of the moment. While blazers are certainly a “Must Have” this season and a for sure purchase for any fashionista out there. I’m taking full advantage of this pattern trend, everything from plaid dresses to skirts to heels and trousers. These patterns are a staple in our fall wardrobe, which have all seem to have made their way to my closet 🙂
So now is the perfect time to consider all the different ways you can wear checks and plaids and issa lot! With the rise of the female power suit, checks and plaids are in the spotlight. There is no better way to upgrade your office style than with a tailored-to-perfection check suit or an oversized and slouchy check suit. This year the working girl and boss babes will have a variety to pick from and multiple fashion choices to make. Plaid shirts, check blazers and dresses in either of these patterns are the ultimate office-approved pieces. Take your work-appropriate outfit to the next level ladies. You’ll feel business professional but playful at the same time.
The business style is also very popular on the streets as much as it is the office. New York Fashion Week had the streets filled with plaid blazers, plaid skirts, wide leg trouser’s and suiting. This look easily transitions from day to night so don’t be afraid to hit the bars or dinner straight from work. This pattern trend can turn any simple outfit into a glam outfit with little to no effort. Its a classic and flattering print that will just keep coming back as we have seen time and time again. Trust me, I ain’t mad at it!
Healthy Contemporary American Cuisine, NOM!
I’ve been eyeing this spot on the gram for months and was counting down the days till I was in NYC to finally check this dreamy place out and it was love at first sight! Everything about this Instagram-worthy West Village gem is every bloggers dream spot. It’s a tiny space that is beautifully decorated from the marble bar and table tops to the blush pink velvet seating. It’s also full of delicious looking cocktail concoctions that look like something out of an Old Hollywood movie. The menu did not disappoint either – The fried chicken sits atop green kale waffles and is drizzled with house-made hot sauce—as savory as it is swappable. I had the Burrata 🙂 candied peaches with sour cherries and toasted hazelnuts drizzled with honey! NOM
It’s a must try!
Nom, Nom, Nom, TAO is one of favorite restaurants around! This trendy, chic eatery never disappoints in any city. TAO Downtown offers a distinct sense of arrival and discovery and is the first TAO venue where guests descend into a multi-level space. The subterranean restaurant, located in the heart of Chelsea, is intended to look and feel as if it has been there for decades and only unearthed recently to reveal the artifacts within. Upon arrival, guests immediately encounter a long corridor with a dragon scale patterned screen and Chinese calligraphy murals mounted on weathered brick walls. If you have a chance to visit any of the locations, I highly recommend you do! The one in Los Angeles recently opened and its amazing, but I think New York will always be my favorite.
It’s all about the boxy shoulders. That’s right, shoulder pads are back in full force, and it’s the boxier, oversized silhouettes we’re seeing outside the shows. In addition to the shape, keep your eye out for plaids, bold hues, and other checked patterns. Pair the blazer with a matching skirt or trouser, or just dress it down with a tee or blouse and jeans, it’s an effortless, photo-worthy look every single time. I paired mine with none other than the retro suede mini (my jam at the moment) and fishnets for some flare. My booties were beyond comfortable, I was able to last through all the shows that day and I explored the city in between and at night.
Hey Carrie, You Home?
While shooting in the West Village, I literally turned a corner and ran right into Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic brownstone apartment. First of all I’m one of the biggest Sex and The City fans and I’ve always wanted to visit this street. Not only for the show, but for the beautiful architecture of these brownstones right in the heart of West Village, one of my favorite neighborhoods!
Extra Virgin is a neighborhood spot that attracts diners from all across the city. Located in New York City’s West Village, Extra Virgin is “a little gem of a restaurant… with cooking consistently good and the young staff, attractive and efficient” (The New York Times). Deliciously inventive Mediterranean food and mouth is still watering over that salad that I had. I will definitely be back next time I’m in the big apple. NOM 🙂
